Restaurants: Taipei Cafe

Taipei

Morrisville, NC — Hidden in a small shopping center beside Park West Village is Taipei Cafe, a Taiwanese restaurant with authentic food and a cozy atmosphere.

Taipei Cafe

Taipei isn’t your average take-out Chinese restaurant. Not only is the environment nice for dining-in, the Chinese food is some of the best I’ve had.

The menu features both Taiwanese specialties and traditional Chinese cuisine.

Most entrees center around a combination of protein, vegetables and rice.

I always get the sesame chicken, but there’s also shrimp with garlic sauce, orange chicken, pepper steak, chicken chow mein, lemon chicken, sweet and sour pork, bean curd with vegetables, moo goo gai pan and about 35 other options.

Fast, Friendly Service

My mom first discovered Taipei, and now it’s our go-to meeting spot.

The first time she ate there, she told me, it was a cold and rainy day. When she walked into the restaurant shivering, one of the friendly servers immediately brought her a pot of hot jasmine tea to warm her up. That’s not a guarantee that you’ll get free hot tea, but I do like that story.

If you’ve never tried jasmine tea, by the way, you’re missing out. Just order the “hot tea,” and they’ll bring you your own ready-to-drink pot. It’ll really hit the spot come late fall and winter.

Everything is delicious and comes out quickly – sometimes, within minutes.

Best Lunch Special

Taipei Cafe has a lunch special that runs six days a week – not just weekdays – from 11 am-3 pm. Just choose from 42 combination platters that come with rice, an egg roll and your choice of wonton, hot & sour or egg drop soup. The entrees top out at $6.95 with everything included – it’s a great deal. Choose soup or an egg roll and it’s only $5.95.

Not to be confused with the excellent food and service of TAIPEI 101 located across from the Cary Theatre in Downtown Cary.

    Idea for editors:

Consider including the health inspection rating like you see above the fold (at right margin) of local “Yelp” reviews of eateries!
